The Limar AIR PRO helmet has a very innovative production process. Carbon fiber – thanks to its high mechanical strength and low weight – becomes the heart of the helmet. This improves the safety of the helmet without compromising on weight.
CARBON CORETECH:
The 3K carbon fiber that is bonded inside the helmet with EPS provides a highly resistant core material and is the main feature of the Air Pro Mips.
The 3K carbon fiber is now co-molded with EPS in five layers, not as a single film (maximum one or two layers). It is the same process used when building bicycle frames. In this way, the helmet gets superior mechanical strength, which allows the use of the thinnest thickness. The carbon fiber becomes the heart of the helmet. Together with the expanded polystyrene, it creates a protective cage that increases safety and optimizes ventilation on the cyclist's head, as well as the aerodynamics of the air flow around the helmet.
AERODYNAMICS:
The pyramidal surface of the longitudinal ribs reduces drag by cutting through the air and enables smooth gliding. The very thin carbon fiber wings allow easy airflow and improved air circulation. The extended tail prevents turbulence. Simulation of CFD data integrated with wind tunnel tests shows an increase in aerodynamic efficiency of 20% compared to the LIMAR Ultralight+ model, which is also confirmed by several tests carried out on velodromes/wind tunnels (tests in real environmental conditions with Astana Team riders).
MIPS Air:
Mips Air is a brain protection system consisting of a low friction layer that allows a sliding movement of 10-15 mm in all directions, which reduces rotational movement against the brain during a collision.
Limar chose the revolutionary and innovative Mips Air solution, which is much lighter and more ventilated than the regular version. This is achieved by integrating the Mips Brain Protection System and LIMAR's comfort padding, resulting in improved comfort, fit and good airflow inside the helmet.
