As with all SES (Smart Enve System) wheels, the front and rear rims have different shapes. The front rim is lower for increased stability and the rear rim is higher for best aerodynamics. EVEN WIDE HOOKLESS BEAD TECHNOLOGY
With a wider rim, the risk of a puncture is reduced by up to 60 percent compared to a regular rim. As the force between the surface and the rim is distributed over a larger surface area during a puncture, this means you can ride with very low tire pressure without having to worry about getting a pinch flat.
MOLDED SPOKE HOLE
ENVE casts the spoke holes and valve holes directly during rim manufacturing instead of drilling the holes afterwards. The idea behind this is that an unbroken fiber is stronger than a broken one. The patented manufacturing process allows ENVE to create a rim that is both lighter and stronger. The end product is a lighter, stiffer wheel that holds tension better.
TIRE PRESSURE & ROLLING RESISTANCE
In recent years we have seen a clear trend towards wider tires and lower air pressures. This is both more comfortable and provides lower rolling resistance. ENVE not only tests the aerodynamics of the wheels, they also do extensive testing on tire pressures.
